PVP Mode Explanatory Notes
PvP Moveset Explanation
Smack Down sports high damage output backed by STAB, but has below-average energy generation.
Stone Edge takes advantage of STAB to deal considerable damage, but does cost quite a bit of energy. Flamethrower acts as a coverage option for when Bastiodon's Rock-type moves would be resisted, and is also valuable against other Steel-types. Flash Cannon costs the most amount of energy, and despite getting STAB, is not recommended due to its lack of relevancy in the meta.
PvP Rating Explanation
Say hello to what's arguably the most polarizing Pokemon in Great League! Bastiodon is the epitome of the word "Wall," and not just because its face looks like that. Its insane bulk and long list of resistances allow it to effortlessly plow through just about anything that doesn't hit it super effectively. Thanks to Smack Down's high DPT, it can oppressively win many matchups without a single care about its opponent's shield advantage. Bastiodon is infamous for completely and utterly walling certain Pokemon such as Altaria, Skarmory, Noctowl, Alolan Ninetales, and many more.
On the other hand, Bastiodon's worst matchups are absolutely atrocious. Double weakness to Fighting and Ground leaves it extremely vulnerable to Pokemon such as Swampert, Galarian Stunfisk, and Medicham. This is further exacerbated by by Bastiodon's clumsy moveset. Just as how Bastiodon can effortlessly win some matchups simply by existing, it breaks apart just as easily when it comes face to face against these Pokemon, and no amount of shield advantage can save it.
Maxes out in the Great League, best keep it there.
No hope in sight for the Master League.
