Character Introduction
Clefable is a Fairy Pokémon which evolves from Clefairy. It is vulnerable to Poison and Steel moves. Clefable's strongest moveset is Charm & Meteor Mash and it has a Max CP of 2,437.
Clefable gracefully skips and dances lightly, as if flying, allowing it to even tread on water during peaceful, moonlit nocturnal strolls.
PVP Mode Explanatory Notes
PvP Moveset Explanation
Clefable can opt for two playstyles - one that focuses on firing hard-hitting charge moves, and another that focuses on consistent, relentless Fairy-type damage.
Fairy Wind's high energy generation combines well with Meteor Mash and Moonblast, two excellent charge moves. This is usually the preferred moveset, as Clefable tends to compete with other Charmers.
Charm enables Clefable to deal Fairy-type damage without relying on charge moves.
Meteor Mash is a staple for Metagross, but Clefable also has access to it and all the perks that come with it. Due to the rest of Clefable's charge moves being very expensive energy-wise, Meteor Mash sees a lot of use as either a very powerful Steel-type attack, and/or a 50 energy shield-bait. Moonblast is typically the preferred Charged Attack (mandatory on the Fairy Wind set) due to its high DPE and STAB. Psychic can be used to pressure Poison-type Pokemon, but should only be used on the Charm set, where Clefable already deals significant Fairy-type damage. Dazzling Gleam is strictly inferior to Moonblast.
PvP Rating Explanation
Clefable hasn't had the best track record in some time. Buffs to various key metagame Fairy resists and competition with Alolan Ninetales and Wigglytuff has left Clefable being a niche pick at best. However, its moveset still packs a decent amount of raw power and can punish some cores that choose to ignore Fairy-type adversaries, such as Altaria + Medicham or Medicham + Sableye. The addition of Fairy Wind to its moveset helps distinguish Clefable from other Fairy-type options, but it still lacks meaningful ways to tackle its weaknesses.
Thanks to the increased bulk of the Ultra League, Clefable can reach its fairly expensive Charged Attacks more reliably. The omnipresence of Giratina is excellent for it. Clefable still competes with Alolan Ninetales for a spot on a team, but it appreciates Wigglytuff being no longer viable. Having access to Meteor Mash allows Clefable to delete Aurorus, a much more prominent threat in the Ultra League compared to the Great League. Issues with Steel- and Fire-types still plague Clefable in this league, especially with Charizard being a core threat.
There are much better Fairy-type options in the Master League
