PVP Mode Explanatory Notes
PvP Moveset Explanation
With Charge Beam and Low Kick being terrible moves, Spark easily takes the cake as Pawmot's best Fast Attack option
Pawmot packs explosive potential with access to Wild Charge and Close Combat; both moves benefit from STAB, have moderately low costs, and very high DPE. However, both come with a rather debilitating Defense self-debuff. As a result, it may be worth considering running Discharge for safety, though the drop in power is severe. Furthermore, Pawmot is already a risky pick to begin with, so why not go all out with damage anyways? Thunderbolt is Pawmot's most expensive option; it serves as a middle ground between Discharge's safety and Wild Charge's damage output, but is overall not worth running simply due to cost alone.
PvP Rating Explanation
Pawmot is extremely fragile, but it has absolutely nuclear potential with its Charged Attacks. Access to STAB Close Combat sets it apart from other Electric-type Pokemon due to its ability to just about delete Galarian Stunfisk. The self-debuffing nature of its Charged Attacks require some technical play to minimize those effects. Pawmot can be a great lead or closer; the former option lets it switch to clear its debuffs more easily, while the latter option allows Pawmot to clean up games when shields no longer get in the way. Beware of Ground-type Pokemon such as Gligar, Swampert, and Nidoqueen (and by extension, Clodsire, whenever it gets released), and certain Grass-type Pokemon like Venusaur or Trevenant.
The added bulk in Ultra League gives Pawmot a bit less explosive potential in exchange for slightly more survivability. Pawmot unfortunately struggles in this league due to the omnipresence tanky opponents such as Giratina, Cresselia, and Zygarde-Complete. They are are all capable of facetanking its powerful Charged Attacks and possess more than enough firepower to counter Pawmot.
Perhaps you are looking for Iron Hands whenever it gets released?
