Character Introduction
Vespiquen is a Bug & Flying Pokémon which evolves from Combee. It is vulnerable to Rock, Flying, Fire, Electric and Ice moves. Vespiquen's strongest moveset is Bug Bite & Bug Buzz and it has a Max CP of 2,005.
Vespiquen's abdomen is a honeycomb for grubs. It raises its grubs on honey collected by Combee, showcasing a fascinating example of nature's symbiosis.
PVP Mode Explanatory Notes
PvP Moveset Explanation
Bug Bite features the well-rounded 3.0 DPT (Damage Per Turn) and 3.0 EPT (Energy Per Turn), in addition to taking advantage of STAB. Poison Fang is one of the worst moves for PvP.
X-Scissor is Vespiquen's primary charge move due to its low energy cost, which allows it to bait shields. Power Gem is preferred for coverage against 3 of Vespiquen's weaknesses despite its expensive 60 energy cost and poor 1.33 DPE (Damage Per Energy). Bug Buzz can deal more damage for the same 60 energy cost (not to mention STAB), but Vespiquen would really appreciate having coverage options.
PvP Rating Explanation
Vespiquen is a decent pick for PvP, featuring a defensive stat spread and thus decent bulk, a vulnerable typing, and a somewhat weak moveset in terms of damage. With a Bug/Flying typing, Vespiquen has to deal with 5 weaknesses, 4 of which are common. The low DPE values of X-Scissor and Power Gem don't really let Vespiquen threaten its opponents much, which leaves it to mostly niche situations against opponents weak to Bug-type attacks. Wins against the bulkier Umbreon and Cresselia are definitely solid, and a double resistance to Fighting-type damage allows it to tie with Medicham under 1-shield scenarios. Against more neutral fights, Vespiquen tends to falls short due to its lower damage output.
With a max CP of 2005, Vespiquen is confined to the Great League. It can still beat Umbreon in Ultra League though.
Vespiquen doesn't bug anyone in Master League.
